Pianist, Holly Mead and guitarist, Bruce Dunlap are composing new music for the 3rd iteration of Advent, one of GiG's most well-attended events. 12 (more) new pieces written over the course of late October and November will extol the virtues of deft harmony, sweet melodies and a reverence for musical traditions old and new that bring meaning and new light to the holidays. Drawing on many decades of immersion in jazz, classical and ethic traditions and having worked extensively with many musical luminaries, this duo's sonic signature is replete with tight orchestration and expansive improvising, giving the impression of a small orchestra hiding in amongst the strings and sinews. It may just melt the icicles from your Grinchly heart!
"Evocative and spellbinding." The New York Times
"The music's complexities simmer below the serenity of its surface, leaving sophisticated, strikingly original material both simple to digest while never being less than accomplished work by a true jazz virtuoso. Bruce enthralls listeners, exploring new boundaries on guitar with fresh ensemble playing." Elusivedisc.com
